Somatic Movement
Somatic Movement teaches the body efficient and effective ways of operating, replacing older, less helpful patterns that can hinder our mobility. A regular Somatic Movement practice will take you on a journey of self exploration, helping you to connect with yourself, finding ease in your body, and attuning to your emotions.
Hanna Somatics uses the mind-body connection for you to engage with your internal self, surveying your inner landscape. This technique teaches you to listen to the signals your body sends regarding areas of physical or emotional pain, discomfort, or imbalance.
Engage With Your Internal Self
Somatic Movement education works with your entire nervous system, also called the Sensory Motor Loop. Every time we experience emotional or mental stress, it manifests as tension in our muscles. Chronic stress leads to chronic muscular contraction. This muscle tension eventually becomes habitual and we are no longer aware that it’s there. Through this practice you will learn to become aware of how your reflexive responses to stress, patterns of physical compensation, emotions, and mindset are all interconnected.
Each individual, hour-long Somatic Movement session begins with an assessment that helps determine your unique stress and muscular contraction pattern. We work slowly, and mindfully to reset the resting tone of our muscles as well as develop our internal sense of ourselves and our Soma. The aim of a consistent Somatic Movement practice is to enhance resiliency. In the event of an inevitable stressful situation, you will be able to handle triggers without activating chronic pain patterns.
