In a new year, we normally feel full of hope and aspirations, but as we enter ‘21, there is continued stress and resistance as we are being further stretched out of our comfort zones during this global pandemic. As we have come to learn the essence of what matters most over the past ten months, it is essential to incorporate M.D.N.A. into our daily lives. Now that I have caught your attention, yes, this is totally a play on an acronym. During this period of prolonged uncertainty and repeated lockdowns, many people have turned to substances to cope, and to chase feelings of peace and ecstasy. But euphoria can be created from within by making sure to get your daily dose of Music, Dance, Nature and Art. Try incorporating these four components into your life everyday and tune into how you feel and experience the pleasure of simply being alive.
Music.
Nothing beats the way your favourite song can brighten your day. Playing music on an amplifying speaker and blasting the tunes that make your heart smile can shift your mood instantly! You can also listen through headphones and let the rhythms move your soul. Infuse music into your day and see how much more fun and smoother things flow. 🙂
Dance.
Add movement to your fave music and we have a winning combo for feeling happy and energetic, while naturally releasing endorphins into your system. Moving your body inherently to the beat and to your heart’s content, creates flexibility and feelings of being recharged and re-energized. Get up and dance, even for just five minutes and feel exhilarated!
Nature.
Enjoy the wonders of natural places outdoors, at the park or by the water. Bundle up and take a walk, stepping on the grass and staring up at the leaves on the trees and the clouds in the sky. I could get entranced staring at the waves all day, feeling their soothing presence and power to shift my mood. Soaking in the elements and letting the sun glaze your skin even for a short while can do wonders.
Art.
We are all creators by design. Letting your creative juices flow through art is a way to let yourself be fully expressed. Explore different types of creative outlets like painting, writing, drawing, coloring, collaging, scrapbooking, sewing, knitting, singing, playing an instrument, decorating, cooking, flower arranging, or just about anything that sparks your interest. Spending time on artistic expression with no filter allows for mindfulness while letting your true inner essence shine through. Hopefully this gentle reminder to incorporate M.D.N.A. everyday will help you move through this year with ease and grace, regardless of the external circumstances.
